On Thursday, April 17, 2008 more than 400 runners are expected to take to the streets as The Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation hosts its second annual Innovator's 5K run (iFive:k). Open to runners and walkers, the iFive:k will start and finish at the Charleston Maritime Center, with a post-race celebration immediately following on the harbor.

"We wanted to give companies an opportunity to interact in a casual environment. Not only does this race create beneficial business relationships, but also it provides an opportunity for team building," said Ernest Andrade, Director of the Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation.

Pleased with the turnout for last year's event, and with participants clamoring for another evening race, the Digital Corridor decided to make the iFive:k an annual event.

"At the iFive:k, we had an exclusive opportunity to get out and unite as a team in the presence of other like-minded business professionals. The setting was amazing. It felt like a high-touch, members-only event, where the participants were catered to and the venue was the sun setting across downtown historic Charleston and the Battery. The iFive:k was the perfect race, but we've come to expect nothing less from the Charleston Digital Corridor," commented Mike Carter, eGroup principal consultant.

The Charleston Digital Corridor will donate a portion of the proceeds raised to the Burke High School Scholarship Fund. This donation will be earmarked for a student seeking higher education in a technology related field.

For additional information on the iFive:k or to register, please visit www.ifivek.com. The iFive:k is limited to 500 participants and is open to individual participants and teams of two, six and ten.
