The Charleston Digital Corridor (CDC) is pleased to announce that Comcast has awarded the organization a $25,000 grant to assist with the growth of Charleston Digital Corridor University (CDCu) and the Diversity Initiative. At yesterday's event, Charleston Workforce and Digital Inclusion Day, Comcast announced the grant, in addition to providing each of the 50 students in attendance with laptops.

CDCu is a series of seminars/workshops presented by Charleston-area experts and leaders. Each session is focused on providing practical and immediately actionable takeaways in three series: Business, Technology, and Entrepreneur.

The Diversity Initiative seeks to stimulate the inclusion within Charleston's tech community of under-represented entrepreneurs and business professionals by offering no-cost workspace at the Flagship and subsidizing an array of curated business resources, mentorship, and education as applicable.

"Advancing digital equity and closing the digital divide are top priorities for Comcast," said Comcast Regional SVP Jason Gumbs. "We are thrilled to be part of today's event with our many community partners."

"Comcast's continued support of the CDC and investment with upgrading and expanding the digital infrastructure in the Charleston region is proof positive of their commitment to our community," said Charleston Digital Corridor Director, Ernest Andrade. "We look forward to launching a pre-seed fund tied to the Diversity Initiative and believe this grant will help kickstart that," he added.
