Vireo Labs, a career focused education tech startup, today announced that Katherine Pastor, 2016 School Counselor of the Year, has joined its corporate board of advisors.

Katherine is a school counselor at Flagstaff High School in Flagstaff, Ariz. and was presented with the award by the American School Counselor Association and honored by the First Lady of the United States at an event at the White House earlier this year.

She joins the Vireo Labs board of advisors, which is comprised of senior leaders in higher education and education technology.

"Katherine's expertise and passion for helping students succeed academically and personally is unparalleled," said Jose Mallabo, co-founder and chief executive officer of Vireo Labs. "We're incredibly honored to have her be part of our team. Katherine's perspective will keep us grounded in our number one focus as a company to help students answer the most important question they face: 'What do I want to be when I grow up?'"

Vireo Labs will be launching C'reer later this year. C'reer is a free mobile application and platform that matches people with careers and connects them with representatives of top college programs in those fields via chat. The company has already signed up 200 school counselors and teachers from 10 different states to the beta version of the app.
