Palmetto Primary Care Physicians (PPCP) Selects eGroup to Design and Support 24x7 Computing Infrastructure

South Carolina healthcare and technology leaders collaborate to ensure seamless delivery of patient services

**MT. PLEASANT, SC – OCTOBER 8, 2014 – **eGroup, the Southeast's leading provider of cloud, application, end-user computing and managed services, today announced that Palmetto Primary Care Physicians (PPCP) has selected it to help consult, design, deploy and support the healthcare leaders' new 24x7 AlwaysOn computing infrastructure.

PPCP's hyper growth across the state of South Carolina has been well documented and, as a result, required a strategic partner to help support its many current and planned technology initiatives such as Electronic Health Records, Care Coordination, and Population Health and Revenue Cycles.

The new computing platform, engineered by eGroup, will be based on the following components: Cisco UCS/Nexus 9000 series compute and converged network, EMC VMAX for primary data storage of Tier-1 systems, EMC XtremIO Active/Active X-Bricks HA, and EMC Isilon Scale-out NAS.

eGroup's deep experience within the healthcare industry and expertise in delivering large scale networking, storage, computing and applications-related projects positioned the company well to serve as PPCP's extended information technology (IT) department.

"PPCP is rapidly expanding in South Carolina, and I see technology infrastructure and applications as key to supporting and driving the business growth while enabling the very best in patient care," said Greg Badras, CIO, Palmetto Primary Care Physicians. "We are at an important crossroads with the need to balance hiring in-house staff and choosing a trusted partner as an extension of our IT Department. We teamed up with eGroup to augment IT's capabilities and capacity, and are extremely happy with our decision."

PPCP is also developing the Palmetto Health & Wellness Campus at Nexton, a large commercial and residential development in Summerville, SC. As a result, eGroup expects to be instrumental in helping PPCP design and deliver solutions as the project takes shape.

"Our partnership with PPCP has been a uniquely rewarding experience. Collaborating with a leadership team that views the delivery of information and applications to end-users as a competitive advantage is refreshing, and a key indicator that PPCP 'gets IT,'" said Mike Carter, Principal, eGroup. "PPCP's investment in Nexton and in bringing together the latest developments in 'primary care, population health, care coordination, telemedicine and minimally invasive ambulatory care' is a perfect example of its vision that the innovative use of IT can truly provide an edge over the competition."
