Icon Sotware Solutions opens South Carolina office as part government tech initiative

Gold Coast-based Icon Software Solutions has expanded its reach to the US with the opening a South Carolina office. The company, which specialises in software for local governments across Australasia, has opened a branch within the Charleston Digital Corridor in South Carolina.

It is the first Australian company to take part in the project which brings together knowledge-based companies. The US Local Government software market is thirty-two times the size of the current Australian market. Icon's expansion to the Charleston Digital Corridor was prompted by a successful visit to the International City/County Management Association in September 2013.

According to a company statement, interest was so great in ICON's PlanningXchange software, the directors decided to break into the US market via the digital corridor project. Icon chief executive Marie Phillips said she was delighted by the progression of the company.

"From humble beginnings six years ago, we now offer world class software solutions which have begun to be noticed and sought after internationally - we are so happy to be sharing our products on the global stage."

The company, which was recently named in the Deloitte Fast 500 Asia Pacific Awards, now has offices on the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne as well as South Carolina
