Charleston-Based Veteran Business Awarded Solar Contract for the U.S Marine Corps

Charleston, South Carolina- February 14, 2013- Hannah Solar Government Services LLC is pleased to announce that Turner Universal Construction, based in Washington, DC, has awarded the company a contract valued at $4,087,706 for the construction of a 1,100 kW solar photovoltaic system for the U.S Marine Corps in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina . This solar system will be roof mounted on standing seam metal roofs and canopy mounted on the top of a parking garage.

This renewable energy project will generate 1,323,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually for the US Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune. The project will be constructed using the latest solar energy technology with American manufactured components.

The US Navy and US Marine Corps are investing heavily in renewable energy. The current goals of the US Navy and US Marine Corps are to derive at least 50 percent of its shore energy requirements from alternative sources and making 50 percent of its installations net-zero by the year 2020.

Efficiencies gained from a greater reliance on solar energy technologies have the potential to create energy independence, reduce the Department of Defense's (DoD) carbon footprint and drive clean energy innovation for the entire nation. As the single largest consumer of energy in the United States, the DoD is in a unique position to introduce innovative, clean energy solutions on an enormous scale.

Charleston, South Carolina-based Hannah Solar Government Services is a leading Southeastern solar integrator company. "We are Veterans leading the way in providing America's energy security," said McNeil.
