Blackbaud has developed a mobile app for users of its fundraising and CRM service The Raiser's Edge, enabling them to access supporter data on the move.

The app gives fundraisers and donor support staff access to the main constituent information, including recent gift data, and it allows quick access to enter, edit, and dictate actions and notes. Visit notes and actions can be updated to the main database using the tool.

The app is available for iPhone, Android or Blackberry smartphone and is free, as part of the maintenance support for clients from Blackbaud.

Loughborough University, Asthma UK and Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland are among the first charities to use it. Richard Barber, development services manager at Loughborough University, said: "We have a number of fundraisers that spend a lot of time out of the office and updating notes has traditionally been a problem. The ability to update the main database from the app has been really valuable and made our fundraisers' lives much easier."

Jerome Moisan, Blackbaud Europe's managing director, added: "This is a tool for fundraisers, not techies, so we made sure it was simple-to-use, looked compelling and provided easy access to data. Mobile is very much the future of fundraising, both for donors and the fundraisers themselves, and we will continue to work with our customers to ensure our products are reflective of that."
