(CHARLESTON, SC) – The first annual DIG SOUTH interactive conference and expo will launch April 12–14, 2013, in Charleston, SC, a city recently recognized by Mayor Joe Riley and Fast Company magazine as "Silicon Harbor."

DIG SOUTH will explore the intersection of technology, social media, marketing and the arts with a focus on the Southeastern knowledge economy. Venues include Charleston Music Hall, College of Charleston TD Arena and other surprise locations across the peninsula.

Submissions to present at DIG SOUTH are under consideration and will be accepted through August 1, 2012 or until presenter slots are full. Visit digsouth.com or email info@digsouth.com for more information.

DIG SOUTH sessions will examine the conditions that uniquely position Charleston and the Southeast as hot spots for the knowledge economy. Who are the innovators? What are the new platforms? And, how is technology enhancing our economy and impacting our quality of life?

DIG SOUTH will connect leading brands with the smartest startups to discuss brand storytelling, e-commerce, mobile marketing, software solutions, app development, location-based promotions, design, creativity, viral video, indie music marketing, social media, startup funding, creative collaborations, the evolution of culture and much more.

"It's time to shine a national spotlight on the brilliant things happening in the Southeastern knowledge economy," says Stanfield Gray, executive producer of DIG SOUTH. "Why go to SXSW interactive to see what's happening in our own backyard?"

Attendees will include digital marketers and strategists, technology executives, entrepreneurs, arts professionals, musicians, researchers, inventors, investors, media planners and buyers, publishers, software developers, designers and many other creatives.

Participants will connect and share pathways to success in the information age. Product demos, entertainment showcases and other special events will be presented throughout.

Additional discussions will focus on creative collaborations across the region and how the Southeast can expand partnerships and capitalize on regional initiatives.
