CODEcamp to Add Website Basics Class to Course Offerings

Charleston Digital Corridor Release

New Class Targets Business Owners and Career Seekers

Charleston, South Carolina - May 24, 2012 - The Charleston Digital Corridor is pleased to announce the addition of a Website Basics class to its recently launched CODEcamp augmentative education initiative. This course, starting June 5, 2012, will be held from 6:00-7:30 pm once a week for six weeks at the Flagship2 business incubator facility in Downtown Charleston.

The course will introduce participants to the basics of website development, namely HTML, CSS and Javascript. Unlike other CODEcamp offerings that have pre-requisites; this course only requires applicants to have a basic familiarity with Apple's Mac operating system since the CODEcamp lab is outfitted with fourteen iMac computers for students receiving instruction.

"This introductory course targets two distinct groups: students or recent graduates exploring a career in web development and business owners and individuals who want to equip themselves to control and edit their own websites, " said Digital Corridor Director, Ernest Andrade.

CODEcamp courses are designed in collaboration with Digital Corridor companies to address their immediate hiring needs. Currently, the Digital Corridor's Talent Portal boasts nearly 200 jobs from 25 companies, most of which require, at a minimum, these basic web skills.

Since CODEcamp is a year-round initiative, new courses will continually be introduced based on market demand. Applications for the Website Basics class are being accepted at CharlestonCodes.com.
