Innovators Pound The Pavement In Record Numbers at Digital Corridor's 2012 iFive:K

Charleston, South Carolina – April 24, 2012 – The Charleston Digital Corridor's6th Annual iFive:K held on April 19, 2012 was a resounding success. The sold-out event boasted over 800 registrants including 82 teams representing 25 knowledge-based companies, more than double the team participation at past races.

This year's unique event, a combination of athletics and networking, offered participants the popular scenic race route through historic downtown Charleston, followed by the much-anticipated BoomTown post-race celebration overlooking the Harbor. The highlight of the event was the PeopleMatter "SPIRIT" award which came down to a "dance off" between software companies, Blue Acorn and Boomtown. BoomTown was crowned the 2012 winner by audience applause.

Congratulations to all participants, especially overall first place male winner, Matthew Dieterich and female winner, Heather Knight, with a finish time of 17:28 and 18:31 respectively. The coveted team awards went to eGroup's "Serious Competitors Too" for the fastest 10-member team, 2BBM for the "6 Pack" award and I Don't Give a $#1T for the "Double Duo" award.

The 2012 iFive:K ECPI University Scholarship Award winners were Earnestine Davis for Electronics Engineering and Paul Makowski for Computer Information Sciences. "The real winner is our knowledge-based community," shared Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation Director, Ernest Andrade.

The 2012 iFive:K event, headline sponsored by Comcast Business Class, raised approximately $12, 000 that will be used to promote technology related education and entrepreneurship.
