Helping Out for Aug. 17, 2011

Charleston Regional Business Journal

Local eco-advising company GreenBy3 is working with Crisis Ministries on the design, planning and construction of a new shelter for homeless men in downtown Charleston.

GreenBy3 plans to build an energy-efficient, LEED certified building, resulting in lower energy costs, lower impact on the environment and enhanced livability. Along with providing professional services, GreenBy3 will donate wall and flooring material from its inventory of reclaimed materials.

The groundbreaking is set for October. The new building will provide 70 emergency shelter beds, 40 transitional housing beds for veterans, a medical clinic, kitchen, dining room, laundry facilities, meeting rooms and offices.
