Innovators Take To The Streets At Digital Corridor's Annual 5k Race

Charlestn Digital Corridor Foundation

CHARLESTON, S.C. – April 6, 2009 – JSJ Pharmaceuticals, SeamonWhiteside + Associates, Telogical Systems and Google are just a handful of the local businesses who will be off and running when the third annual Innovator's 5K, or iFive:k, hosted by the Charleston Digital Corridor takes place on April 16, 2009 at 6:30 PM.

The race, which welcomes both businesses and individuals, is well timed to help boost morale at local companies affected by the economic downturn. The iFive:k, capped at 500 participants and currently at over 350 registrants, is the only weekday evening race in downtown Charleston.

The race allows participants to 'Run, Walk or Shuffle' and starts and finishes at the Charleston Maritime Center, with a post-race celebration of beer and pizza on the harbor. Businesses are encouraged to participate as teams and compete for the "Bragging Rights" trophy for the fastest company.

"Companies recognize there has never been a better time to leverage networking opportunities," said Ernest Andrade, Charleston Digital Corridor director. "The iFive:k and the post-race party present a unique setting for team building and informal networking."

"An evening race in a beautiful setting followed by pizza and beer is my kind of race," said Will Bullock, Slant Media Partner. "Of course I use the term 'race' loosely, but this is a great way to catch up with friends, clients, and other professionals in technology and design. We always look forward to this event, which is why Slant is proud to be a race sponsor/shuffler for the third year in a row."

The Charleston Digital Corridor donates a portion of the proceeds to Burke High School in the form of a scholarship for a student seeking higher education in a technology-related field. For additional information on the iFive:k or to register, please visit www.ifivek.com.

The iFive:k is open to individuals and teams of two, six and ten. iFive:k sponsors include: Slant Media, Workplace Benefits, The Bridge 105.5, Digital Lifestyle Outfitters, Try Sports, Eco Fitness, Step Ahead, Inc., Lowcountry Innovation Center, Skatells, Surya Biofertilizers, Colliers Keenan, East Coast Apparel and Promotions, Comcast, eGroup, Charleston Battery, MUSC Foundation for Research Development, Appalachian Springs, Whole Foods, Matrix Resources, Inc., Daniel Island News and TheDigitel.com.
