Local Benefits Specialist Encourages Workplace Wellness Through Involvement with iFive:K Run

Workplace Benefits

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Reese McFaddin, owner of Workplace Benefits, doesn't just walk the workplace wellness walk, she runs it. For the third year, McFaddin will co-chair the Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation's Five K run, better known as the iFive:K, on April 16. McFaddin also is volunteering as the head of marketing/sponsorships for the third annual run through historic downtown Charleston.

The only area evening race, the iFive:K pits individuals and company teams against one another to compete for bragging rights and then celebrate at a post-race party at the Charleston Maritime Center. The event welcomes runners, walkers and even shufflers who want stay fit while raising money for the Burke High School Scholarship Fund, earmarked for a student seeking higher education in a technology-related field.

"I spend my days helping companies and individuals select the best health insurance plans, but one of the best choices my customers can make is to improve their own health and fitness," McFaddin says. "Encouraging workplace wellness helps both companies and employees save money and improve the overall physical health of the business. Events like the iFive:K are great tools to encourage companies to support their employees in being active outside the office."

McFaddin founded Workplace Benefits, a Charleston area benefits consulting firm, in May 2006 after working in the benefits industry for more than six years in a variety of roles. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Georgia. McFaddin has won numerous sales awards since starting Workplace Benefits, including the Gilston Agency's small group representative award for selling the most policies for companies with 2-50 employees, as well as an award for selling the most WellPath policies. A member of the Center for Women, the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, Charleston Young Professionals and the Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation, McFaddin is active in the community and resides on Daniel Island.
