May 27, 2008 - Charleston, SC - The Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation is pleased to present Burke High School graduating students, Blakely Frederick and Felicia Fleming, the Charleston Digital Corridor Scholarship Award for 2008. This award will be made at the Burke High School Annual Scholarship Awards ceremony at Burke High School Auditorium at 7pm on Tuesday, May 27th, 2008. Both students have been accepted to college and are interested in pursuing careers in technology.

Recognizing that talent is the key driver of a knowledge economy, the Charleston Digital Corridor has a multi-prong approach to the advancement of Charleston's workforce. This includes the development of a talent portal to promote local career opportunities while allowing career seekers to post their resumes, facilitating the relocation of professionals seeking to move to Charleston and nurturing students in our public schools. The funds for these scholarships are raised from the Digital Corridor's Annual Innovator's 5K race (www.ifivek.com) held in downtown Charleston.

"We now have over 300 runners and event sponsors taking part in the development of our talent pool by supporting public education", said Ernest Andrade, Digital Corridor Foundation Executive Director. "These scholarship awards further demonstrate our commitment to nurture and promote Charleston's knowledge economy."
