Jafza Selects Applied Technology & Management (ATM) as Program Manager for a $600 Million Logistics & Distribution Park in South Carolina

Applied Technology & Management, Inc.

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Jafza South Carolina, LLC has selected Applied Technology & Management, Inc. (ATM) to provide program management and development support services for the first phase of its new 1,300-acre logistics, distribution, and manufacturing center. The Logistics & Distribution Park is expected to attract a variety of businesses which are part of a global supply chain, as well as those that want to be near or associated with such businesses.

Located near the town of Santee in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, the park is projected to create 8,000 to 10,000 jobs over the next decade and attract private investment of around $1.2 billion. Among the benefactors of Jafza's Orangeburg logistics hub are two recent ATM clients, the Ports of Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia. Jafza South Carolina is a subsidiary of Jafza International, a Dubai, UAE, based leader in global logistics.

"This project is the cornerstone of Jafza's venture into the United States," says Chuck Heath, Jafza Senior Vice President. "One critical element is to make South Carolina part of a wider network of logistics and distribution parks."

Preserving and protecting the environment will be a top priority for the project, which will include baseball fields and public parks as well as nature trails winding through extensive green space. As Program Manager, ATM will initially be responsible for assisting Jafza with the implementation of key environmental, land, market, and business planning as well as transportation and engineering studies.

According to Tony Maglione, ATM V.P. and Program Manager, ATM will also provide master program scheduling, assist with securing key consultants, and provide cash flow analyses, regulatory agency permitting services, and overall program management.

"Jafza's entry into the United States is a unique opportunity that benefits not only Orangeburg County, South Carolina, but the southeastern U.S. as a whole," says ATM President & CEO Tom Schanze, P.E. "Jafza's vision will create numerous business opportunities for job creation not just in the logistics and manufacturing arena but also in engineering and operational support businesses. Such opportunities may otherwise not have developed in South Carolina without Jafza. ATM is humbled by the trust being handed to us as we look forward to supporting Jafza in their success here and around the country."
