Benefitfocus.com holds career fair to attract local technology talent

Company Release

Charleston, SC– June 28, 2005

Benefitfocus.com, Inc., the leading provider of employee benefits software and services, will be hosting a career fair in mid-July in order to meet its extensive hiring demands from an instate talent pool.

"The need for software architects, designers, and engineers has never been greater," says Doug Moreland, Chief Technology Officer for Benefitfocus.com. "With the explosive demand for technology in the healthcare and benefits industries, we expect to fill 200 engineering and service positions over the next 24 to 36 months."

The fastest growing technology company in South Carolina, Benefitfocus makes Internet-based software that replaces the traditional paper forms employers use to administer their worker-benefit plans, such as health coverage. Clients include over 14 Blue Cross Blue Shield plans covering over 89,000 employer groups and 12.5 million members in all 50 states and in countries as far away as Japan, Mexico, Chile and Poland.

Formed five years ago with just 18 employees, Benefitfocus will be moving its headquarters to a new $16 million, 143,000-square-foot headquarters on Daniel Island next year. Additionally, it plans to double its payroll from 185 to nearly 400 employees by 2008, and is seeking to primarily select from an applicant pool within the Palmetto State. Several regional colleges and universities will be asked to participate, including Clemson University, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University and University of South Carolina.

"We are proud that we have been able to achieve such success thus far by drawing largely on talent from our home state of South Carolina," says Moreland. "With support from the local universities and colleges, we hope to create a cycle of ever increasing technology presence in the community."

The career fair will be held on Tuesday, July 12 from 6pm to 8pm at its current headquarters at 627 Johnnie Dodds Blvd in Mount Pleasant. The company is looking for employees in the following areas: Software Implementation, Project and Client Management, Corporate Customer Support, Software Consulting and Account Management.

"A Benefitfocus office has a work-hard, play-hard air about it that you can sense when you walk in the door," adds Moreland. "Where commitment to customer satisfaction and timely delivery on promises is the norm rather than the exception, Benefitfocus creates a unique blend of blue-sky creativity with a no-nonsense, make-it-happen style."
