News and Notes Ahhhh, the crisp mornings of fall are here. Yet, October is turning out to be a very cool month for more than just the weather. Two of Charleston's most innovative companies are dedicating their corporate facilities within a week of each other. Now that's cool, very cool. Corridor Bash In just over a week, the 3rd Annual Corridor Bash will be here - a time to celebrate with friends. I checked in with microbrewer Palmetto Brewery and they tell me our batch of beer for the 3rd Annual Corridor Bash is on schedule. So, if you would like to attend, please visit the corridor web site or contact Kimberly Demetriades. Wage and Job Growth Survey The Annual Wage Survey is underway. Wage levels at Charleston's knowledge-based companies are consistently over twice state and regional levels. The Charleston Digital Corridor expects to release the results of the 2006 Annual Wage Survey at the end of October 2006. Got Talent - Charleston Wants You The ranks of Charleston's professional and technical workers are growing as evidenced by the number of career opportunities being posted to the Corridor's Talent Portal. If you are interested in moving up or have friends interested in relocating to Charleston, please visit the Corridor's Talent Portal. Knowledge-Economy Calendar In an effort to promote relevant knowledge-economy happenings, the recently revised Digital Corridor website features a calendar. If you are interested in having your event on the calendar, please send an email to Kimberly Demetriades. New Initiative The Digital Corridor is pleased to announce the launch of its 7th initiative - Web Works, a menu of web development and hosting services. This service, overseen by the Charleston Digital Corridor, will be provided to member companies by established design and programming freelance professionals who reside in the Charleston community. The Charleston Digital Corridor is proud to support and promote cutting-edge web design, programming and interactive media. If you are a recent graduate or a freelance professional interested in being considered a preferred resource, please contact Corridor Director, Ernest Andrade. Building Dedications The ribbon cutting for the corporate headquarters buildings for NanoScreen and Benefitfocus is here. These high-growth, leading-edge companies, located in the Digital Corridor's "Cainhoy District," are scheduled to dedicate their respective buildings within a week of each other. They join eight other knowledge-based companies that have sprung up in the Cainhoy District in a short five years. By the way, we have room for more companies who want to be a part of this knowledge-based ecosystem. Bragging Rights Charleston was recently ranked by Entrepreneur Magazine as the #2 mid-size metros for entrepreneurs. The Charleston Digital Corridor is doing its part to become #1.
