News and Notes
Hot Hot Hot!!! and I don't mean just the weather. Outside investment in Charleston's knowledge-based companies is on a tear. The most recent - a $15.8 million round in Argolyn Bioscience. CEO, Pearce Gilbert, and his growing management team are to be congratulated on their accomplishment. Stay tuned as the rest of the world discovers Charleston's innovative companies and the announcements accelerate.

Nell Hinchey - Program Manager
For those who have yet to meet her, Nell Hinchey has been named the new program manager for the Charleston Digital Corridor. Nell replaces Kimberly Taylor who relocated to Columbia, SC. We are grateful to Kimberly for her four years of service and looking forward to next chapter of the Digital Corridor.

Most recently, Nell was employed with Digital Corridor member company QuickFarm, Inc., an application service provider in the agricultural industry. Nell began her career in technology at Datastream Systems, now part of Infor, in Greenville, SC heading up investor relations and public relations. Following Datastream, Nell moved back to her hometown of Charleston, SC accepting a position in sales with Blackbaud.

Program Updates
iFive:K
Thanks for supporting the inaugural 2007 Charleston Digital Corridor iFive:K! 236 people crossed the finish line and many more celebrated with the finishers at the post-race celebration. The average time per mile was 8:51 and all participants completed the course by the one hour mark. Due to the generous support of our sponsors and participants, we doubled our scholarship to the Burke High School Scholarship Fund for a student seeking an education in a technology related field.

If you would like to participate or sponsor the 2008 Charleston Digital Corridor iFive:K, please contact Nell Hinchey.

Talent Portal - An Update
Charleston's knowledge-based companies are hiring in greater numbers than in the past. To encourage companies to post their job openings, the Digital Corridor will provide with companies seeking to fill more than ten (10) positions a tile ad on the Talent Portal. On the career seeker side, the previously required login to view/respond to career opportunities will be eliminated. These changes are the first of many suggestions from member companies related to a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy. If you would like to learn more about the Charleston Digital Corridor's Talent Portal, please contact Nell Hinchey.

Corridor's 2007 Networking Bash
Save the date! The Digital Corridor's 2007 Networking Bash is scheduled for October 4, 2007 at the Charleston Maritime Center on the Charleston Harbor from 5:00 - 8:00pm. The Bash is the Digital Corridor's annual event to promote networking among business professionals in the knowledge-based economy. You may pre-register for the event by contacting Nell Hinchey.

Fridays @ the Corridor
Our June Fridays @ the Corridor session on Employment Law Issues 101 was our last in a Human Resources series. Our next series will cover topics related to companies seeking to raise external capital. Topics will include: Presenting an investment opportunity, what to expect from the investor aside from their financial investment, business planning, valuation, and legal advice.

Thank You
Finally, thank you for your continued support of the Charleston Digital Corridor. Our success is a reflection of the terrific civic engagement and collaboration we have received from you. Continued Success!

Sincerely
