So you are probably thinking - "Hhhhmmmm...I have not heard from the Charleston Digital Corridor since the 2009 iFive:k race." Well, we've been underground busy at work building out the Flagship - Charleston's coolest co-working business environment. The Flagship officially opened June 1, 2009 and has received favorable press from The Post and Courier, The Digitel and the Charleston Regional Business Journal.
NEWS + NOTES
iFive:k Race
On April 16th, 2009, a record setting 550 participants, including 40 member teams, rallied at the Charleston Maritime Center for the third annual Innovator's 5K run/walk/shuffle. After winding through historic downtown Charleston, runners and walkers celebrated with pizza, beer & wine on the Charleston Harbor. Start training now for the fourth annual iFive:k race is set for April 22nd, 2010.
Team Corridor Update
After a two year absence, a familiar face has returned. Kimberly Taylor has come home to serve as Program Manager for the Digital Corridor. By reuniting with Corridor Members and Resource Partners, Kimberly will take the Digital Corridor's value proposition to a higher level. In addition, Kendra Keller has joined our team as the Project Coordinator for Charleston Business Development.
The Flagship
On June 1, 2009, Charleston's coolest office opened for business. Situated at 475-A East Bay Street, the Flagship is the newest offering to support the growth of Charleston's innovation economy. Caffeine addicts rejoice - there is a Starbucks next door.
Our initial residents include First String Research, Wave Sciences Corporation, Palmetto Tech and Surya Biofertilizers. Talk about giving back, the co-founder of Automated Trading Desk funded the purchase of the furnishings for the Flagship and digital corridor member Philips/DLO threw in a new 52" LCD tv. If you know of any entrepreneurs who need a transitional office, let me know.
Corridor Bash
Save the date! The Digital Corridor's 2009 Networking Bash is scheduled for October 15, 2009 at the Charleston Maritime Center on the Charleston Harbor from 5:00 - 8:00pm. The Bash is the Digital Corridor's annual event to promote networking among business professionals in Charleston's entrepreneurial economy. You may pre-register for the event by contacting Kendra Keller.
