Nine Charleston Technology Companies Named to 2014 Inc. 5,000 List

Inc. 500/5000 List of America’s Fastest Growing Companies includes SPARC, Blue Acorn, PhishLabs and Stasmayer

Charleston's rapidly growing knowledge economy is reaffirmed as nine local technology companies in the region were ranked on the 2014 Inc. 500 | 5,000 Fastest Growing Companies in America list by Inc. Magazine. SPARC ranked 700, Blue Acorn ranked 803, Omatic Software ranked 1349, PhishLabs ranked 1889, CodeLynx ranked 2201, Stasmayer ranked 2258, Cantey Technology ranked 2827, Advantage Media Group ranked 3364, and eGroup ranked 3937.

The Inc. 500 | 5,000 list, which ranks private companies on revenue growth between 2010 and 2013, reiterates Charleston's growing presence as a nationally acclaimed knowledge economy. The number of companies recognized has more than doubled since last year's list was released. "Having nine software companies ranked on the 2014 Inc. 500|5,000 list, up from four companies in 2013, is a great honor for our community and validates the robust growth of tech companies in Charleston," said Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr.

"We congratulate all the ranked local technology companies, seven of which are members of the Charleston Digital Corridor and one, a resident in our Flagship incubator," said Ernest Andrade, Executive Director of the Charleston Digital Corridor. "The increase of Charleston technology companies ranked in 2014, compared to 2013, validates the strategic investments Charleston is making to support its knowledge economy.

Charleston's ranked technology companies include:

No. 700, SPARC, a software development company that builds technology solutions for the government, commercial, mobile, green energy and human resource sectors, with 646% revenue growth.

No. 803,Blue Acorn, a premium eCommerce agency that helps retailers and brands achieve revenue growth through a comprehensive, data-driven approach, with 566% revenue growth.

No. 1889, PhishLabs, a cyber crime protection and intelligence service provider that reduces the risk of phishing, malware and other cyber attacks, with a 218% revenue growth.

No. 2201, CodeLynx, a software engineers and electronic security system integration services provider, with a 179% revenue growth.

No. 2258, Stasmayer, an IT support company that offers comprehensive services to businesses designed to alleviate concerns, avoid technology disasters and maximize productivity, with a 173% revenue growth.

No. 2827, Cantey Technology, an IT support and technology consulting service to business of all sizes across the country, with a 130% revenue growth.

No. 3937, eGroup, an innovative cloud, applications and user-end computing service, with a 77% revenue growth.

The Inc. 500 | 5,000 rankings add to a growing list of significant milestones in Charleston's knowledge economy this year. In January, Miliken Institute's 2013 Best-Performing Cities Index, ranked Charleston 11th in the top 25 best performing large cities in America. A designated technology overlay zoning ordinance has been established within the city to accelerate the growth of a physical technology corridor on the Charleston peninsula.
