SPARC Hackathon 2.0 Welcomes New Sponsors

SPARC Release

Google, Microsoft, Red Hat, and Halls Chophouse join SPARC?s 2nd Annual Hackathon as platinum-level sponsors

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) August 21, 2012 - SPARC, a Best Place to Work winner, announced new platinum level-sponsors for its second annual mobile application hackathon being held on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Google, Microsoft, Red Hat, and Halls Chophouse will sponsor the annual event to be held at SPARC's Charleston headquarters.

SPARC's Hackathon 2.0 offers software engineers a chance to meet peers from around the industry, show off their mobile app development skills in a creative environment, and have some fun along the way. At the end of the 16-hour event, $10,000 in prizes will be awarded including $3,000 plus two iPads to the "Best of Show" winner.

Hackathon 2.0 sponsors make the prizes and giveaways possible, and are able to put their brands, products, and services in front of a technology-focused audience. Their contributions bring an exciting array of prizes, food, beer, caffeine, entertainment, educational sessions, and activity to the event, making Hackathon 2.0 the tech party of the year in Charleston.

"As a sponsor, Red Hat is excited to give SPARC Hackathon attendees the opportunity to work with our open source technologies in the mobile space, such as our Red Hat OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) platform," said Jimmy Guerrero, senior product marketing manager and PaaS Dude at Red Hat. "Developers can use OpenShift PaaS for a wide array of mobile applications, and we're looking forward to seeing what new innovative applications the attendees can build based on our technology."

The engaging nature of the competition, coupled with SPARC's award-winning culture, produces a can't-miss event for engineers - or spectators, who are also welcome at the event. All attendees will feel what a day at SPARC is really like, and will be exposed to the energy and excitement of Charleston's technology scene.

"We have a mix of local and national companies this year who all believe in what we're doing here - and we are so appreciative of their support! I can't wait to check out the competition in the video game lounge, eat the latest food truck concoction, put in my favorite song request with the DJ, and do a bit of tailgating outside in preparation of football season," said Amanda Hodges, SPARC Software Engineer and Event Organizer.

Joining the platinum-level sponsors are Maga Design and Knappsack at the gold level, and Touchpoint UX, PMI Charleston, and SPARCET at the silver level. Entertainment sponsors include DJ Phamtastik, DJ Trav, and Mobile Entertainment Center. Operation Boot Camp, The Windjammer, Red's Icehouse, Triangle Char & Bar, and Halls Chophouse will be sponsoring the raffle. Food and beverage sponsors include Charleston Ice, Cupcake, Mix Charleston, Laura Albert's, Charleston Coffee Roasters, Palmetto Brewing Company, and In Season Catering.
