New Hires Help Company Move Deeper Into Digital Publishing and iPad Development Space

Charleston, SC based software and media company BiblioLabs has added several new staff to their growing team. The group of Charleston entrepreneurs who founded BiblioLabs, previously developed BookSurge, a print on demand software and services company that was acquired by Amazon.com in 2005.

"BiblioLabs began its operations in a college apartment in 2006 with four employees," says CEO Andrew Roskill. "Since then, the company has not only hired a large number of new employees, but has been profitable since 2009 and has averaged over 200% annual sales growth since its' founding. We continue to seek new talent to help us take our business to the next level."

BiblioLabs began as a global print-on-demand publisher. "Now, we have built a revenue stream from that base and are making a transition to digital in a way that really goes beyond just books to a broader range of artifacts, stories and knowledge that we can bring to life digitally," says company founder and Chief Business Officer Mitchell Davis. "We have built an exceptional, fast moving, smart team and feel very good about the future. We are thrilled to have these new team members helping us in our pursuit of effective content delivery models at the edge of technology and the humanities."

The new additions to the BiblioLabs team bring a wealth of experience in historical research, humanities publishing and using cloud based technology to scale effective business and content delivery processes.

Associate Curators:

• Lauren Hummer holds a B.A. in Historic Preservation and Community Planning from the College of Charleston and an M.S. in Historic Preservation from the University of Vermont. She has previously served in positions in the historic preservation and historical publishing fields ranging from National Historic Landmarks Program Intern with the National Park Service to Southwest Acquisitions Editor with Arcadia Publishing.

• Maggie McMenamin was an English Major in both the undergraduate and graduate programs at the College of Charleston, Charleston South Carolina. Originally from NYC, she has also lived and studied in Dublin Ireland, and Zurich Switzerland. Maggie is a produced playwright and freelance author. Charleston has been home to Maggie and her husband for the past 14 years. Together, they enjoy travelling, and learning about different cultures.

• Gregory Mark moved to Charleston from Delaware in June, after graduating with Distinction from the University of Delaware (history and political science.) He wrote a dissertation on the evolution of the Medal of Honor, including public perception, political influences, and current awarding practices.

• Jesse Darland previously worked as a web writer/editor for Transylvania University, a small liberal arts college in Lexington, KY. He holds degrees in journalism and theater. He is interested in early American religious history, science fiction, literature, and Rueben sandwiches.

Researcher, Print and Digital Products:

• Jessica Ellis Duggan is a College of Charleston alumna with two BA degrees (English and Media Communication). In the past, she has worked for GolfBusiness Magazine, a national business-to-business golf periodical, and Arcadia Publishing, a regional and local history book publisher. In her free time, she likes to play trivia games in local restaurants with her husband, Andrew.

Sr. Software Engineers:

• Evan Muller previously worked for Atlas Technologies, Inc. LLC before coming to BiblioLabs. There, he spent the last eight years of his career as a software engineer specializing in the development of web applications and network management systems. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Shippensburg University.

• Michael Atwood Jr. is a Charleston native and graduated from the College of Charleston. He has 10+ years of experience in software development and previously worked at NCO as a Supervisor of Software Development. In his free time, he enjoys surfing and boating.
