ModernTech Opening Daniel Island Office

A Tennessee technology company is opening an office on Daniel Island, the company announced Thursday.

The Charleston Digital Corridor helped bring the company, ModernTech, to the Lowcountry.

"We are delighted ModernTech has made a decision to expand operations to Charleston," said Charleston Mayor Joe Riley in a news release. "As Charleston's high-tech manufacturing economy expands, the leading-edge tools provided by ModernTech will become a great asset to our businesses."

ModernTech provides 3D technology products and training to engineers and designers. The training covers the products' development lifecycle, including design, analysis, data management, tech publishing and prototyping. Its 3D products are used to solve mechanical design and engineering problems.

The company provides its services to the aerospace, defense, consumer products, electronics, medical and manufacturing industries, among others.

"Our presence in the Carolinas enhances the opportunity to expand in the Southeast," said Jon Carlton, vice president of ModernTech. "We are very excited about discovering and getting to know the Charleston business base."
