Local Company's Historical Documentary to be Televised

Dockview Productions Release

Dockview Productions produces The Ashley Hall Centennial

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Telly Award-winning documentary celebrating the centennial of Ashley Hall will be aired on ETV, South Carolina's public television station, on Thursday, April 8th at 7pm, and rebroadcast on Sunday, April 11th at 1pm.

The Ashley Hall Centennial, produced by Dockview Productions of Charleston, is an inspiring look at the history of the all-girls preparatory school in downtown Charleston, founded in 1909 by Mary Vardrine McBee. A pioneer of womens' rights in Charleston, McBee oversaw the school for forty years and was instrumental in establishing the Charleston Free Library, which later became the Charleston County Public Library in 1930.

The half-hour show is comprised of interviews with alumnae, students, teachers, and administrators, as well as archival images that tell the unique story of the school's improbable founding one hundred years ago. The soundtrack includes selections by Ashley Hall's Red Choir and music by The O'Neill Brothers.
