InnoVenture Southeast 2009, a Southeastern innovation conference to be held March 24 at the Carolina First Center in Greenville, announced four Charleston-area companies among the final seven entrepreneurial companies slated to present to corporate anchors and investors.

"InnoVenture 2009 will present another strong slate of entrepreneurial companies," said John Warner, president of Swamp Fox LLC, the conference's organizer.

The four Lowcountry companies announced today are:

Avancen in Mount Pleasant markets medication on demand, which is the only oral patient-controlled analgesia device of its kind, and it's changing the way oral pain medications are delivered on an as-needed basis.

Belief Networks of Charleston assists businesses and organizations to transform real-time, structured and unstructured data into actionable knowledge for improved customer experiences and business lift.

BiblioLabs of Charleston provides digital print-on-demand for institutions to make public domain out-of-print content commercially viable, to allow retail customers to find and purchase out-of-print books, and to allow content enhancers to mass customize old books.

Sabal Medical out of Charleston aims to bring nurses and pharmacists together, empowering them with the right tools to recapture wasted time, streamline key processes in hospital medication distribution, reduce medication errors and improve patient safety.

The other three companies named today to present at InnoVenture 2009 include:

Anaxtal Silicon (Piedmont) has developed the "Witter Green Cycle" for manufacturing a grade of silicon specifically tailored for the solar photovoltaic wafer and module manufacturers at a significantly lower cost.

Blue Nano (Huntersville, N.C.) provides high performance nano-materials targeted to OEM manufacturers for use in solar panels, batteries and fuels cells to boost efficiency and reduce costs.

Calyptix (Charlotte, N.C.) manufactures an all-in-one network security appliance purpose built for small businesses that integrates multiple next generation security applications to simplify network security and control over users, groups and devices.

Eight other presenters were named last week: Green Wizard, Hoowaki, InnerOptic, Inveca, Nexnet, SensorTech, TracLok and X2Order.

In addition to capital, Warner said entrepreneurs will find excellent opportunities to connect with major companies such as Michelin, Milliken, General Electric, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Zeus. Clemson University, the University of South Carolina and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte will be on hand, as will investor partners such as SC Launch and Noro-Moseley Partners.
