Charleston Digital Corridor

CHARLESTON, SC, - August 15, 2007 - The Charleston Digital Corridor announces the launch of www.charlestonlifesciences.com, a portal dedicated to developing the life science community in Charleston, South Carolina.

This grassroots portal will serve as a conduit of information to interested parties, regardless of their location, while engaging those who wish to align their interests with Charleston's growing Life Sciences industry.

"The Charleston Digital Corridor is a nationally recognized model for knowledge-based economic development," said Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. "Launching the Charleston Life Sciences portal to address and facilitate the specialized needs of Charleston's Life Sciences industry is the next logical step," he added.

Jonathan Alba, Chief Operating Officer for JSJ Pharmaceuticals, a company that recently located their corporate headquarters from Pennsylvania to downtown Charleston, applauds the decision to launch a portal dedicated to Charleston's Life Sciences community.

"The leadership behind the Charleston Life Sciences portal fundamentally recognizes that the business community is becoming increasingly specialized and seeks to avail itself of relevant resources that are delivered precisely and efficiently," stated Mr. Alba. "The development of a platform for dissemination of information, related specifically to Charleston's Life Sciences, will encourage collaboration in this growing community," he added.

"With a majority of the high-wage job creation occurring from within our community, we seek to enhance this trend by successfully responding to the needs of our life sciences community," said Digital Corridor Director, Ernest Andrade. "The most exciting times for Charleston's Life Sciences community lie ahead and the Digital Corridor is pleased to play a role in shaping this growing industry in Charleston."
