The Digital Corridor is a creative effort to attract, nurture and promote Charleston's knowledge economy. This is accomplished through a combination of technology-enabled initiatives and business incentives, private business support and member-driven programming.
With the goal of offering tangible resources to the business community, the Digital Corridor serves as a portal to government, infrastructure, real estate, education, venture capital, professional resources and a trained workforce.
The Digital Corridor's commitment is to facilitate a business, physical and social environment where technology companies thrive. The Charleston Digital Corridor consists of four geographic areas (districts), offering a diverse range of options to meet the unique size, personality, price and infrastructure requirements for all types of knowledge-based industries.
The Charleston Digital Corridor was founded in 2001 by Ernest Andrade who currently serves as Director with Carolyn Finch serving as the Program Manager. The Digital Corridor has been recognized nationally as a model for knowledge-based, economic development and has been emulated by several cities across the country.
The Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation, a 501(c)6 non-profit corporation, supports the development of the Charleston Digital Corridor through an expanded array of programming and networks to benefit Charleston's knowledge-based community.
There are some moments in the development of cities where opportunities present themselves like never before. Risk-takers and entrepreneurs are often rewarded.
To knowledge-based and research-oriented enterprise, faculty/business linkages are invaluable. The University District is home to the College of Charleston, Medical University of South Carolina and the Citadel.
The growing success of the Cainhoy District can be attributed to several factors including state-of-the-art infrastructure, unparalleled location, high quality public services, waterfront access and a beautiful corporate campus on the master-planned island town, Daniel Island.
The Wharf District's location along the Charleston Harbor with world-class dining, shopping, culture and entertainment make it a compelling business destination.
Recognizing that neighboring knowledge-based companies may benefit from our initiative, the Digital Corridor offers membership and services to select companies located in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties.
